What a lucky catch – not too clear a photo but I was trying not to scare them away, so had to rely on the zoom and my ability to belly crawl along the verandah.

Your bird photography is improving, but are the birds Laughing Kookaburras or Blue-winged Kookaburras ?
Your guess is as good as…oops, no, it’s much better than mine – what do you reckon?
It is a Laughing Kookaburra. Wide dark eyestripe and dark brown tail. But, don’t worry, they are not laughing at your photography ! They have been laughing before you went to OZ and will be laughing after you leave, if you do leave !!
